Folded Into Your Midwestern Thunderstorm
by Kristen Orser

Greying Ghost Press
Chapbook #20

"The midwest can be a lonely space to crawl. Heaps of junctions and front roads bordering corn but nobody else is on the road this afternoon. Folded Into Your Midwestern Thunderstorm is a thunder-slap meant for your cheek. There is a ferocity and a bite to these poems as ripe as the 'Bells, bells, bells / resembling / the ferocity of print ribbon. Double / if you are the responder / my words gut.' Kristen Orser shall reckon!"

excerpt:
    SOUND, THE SMALL ANTIQUE

This year, nobody swims in Lake Michigan.
Everyone performs a question and walks in their own excrement.

My sand neighbor says the boy and I are a beautiful couple. I've seen him
go through our garbage, follow our grammar. Tenderness

has three mirror images. Because of suspicion, I triangulate: What color is the story?

: The second wife is purplish, the birthday cake has red frosting,
and three of the four babies are blue.
