fr. Lori
by Colin Bassett

Lori walks upstairs and leaves the blanket on the floor of her bedroom. She takes off her clothes and gets a towel and stands in the bathroom. She lets the water in the shower run until it is warm. She waits a long time, stops feeling like it was a good idea to take a shower. She sits down on the bathroom floor and puts the towel over her body like a blanket. She feels like she would be doing the same thing at home, and for a moment she wants to move in with her brother. She would have to quit her job. She would have to move across part of the country. She decides to ask her brother about getting a job at the library in town. He would drive her every morning down the lake in the speedboat to the town for work. She would sit in the front of the boat and feel awake and sleepy at the same time. The wind would make her feel this way. It would be cloudy and a little cool and she would stare at the waves the whole way.
